KAIN NA
Kain Na ,“Let’s Eat”, is an art performance Dela Peña exhibited over the duration of 3 days at Wip Gallery for the ‘i’ Word exhibit. Her work depicts the alienation and home sickness most immigrants bears coming from a third country, away from their family and homeland, to a richer country.
“The word immigration is more than just leaving my homeland to start a new life in a foreign country. Immigrating to Canada signifies family reunification for me, my sisters and dad with our mom, who immigrated here 10 years prior to us to work as caregiver. Moving out from the country where I was born, raised, and built myself was a big step for me to the unknown. We left to a foreign land to open a new passage of our lives, but now carrying the label ‘immigrants’. ”
